Merlin - ERP Integration

Challenge

Duffells is the UK’s leading supplier of replacement door and window parts. Despite a vibrant and loyal online B2B customer base their existing site was old, unreliable and lacking new functionality required to push the business forward online.

Their ecommerce platform also needed to be integrated with their Merlin ERP platform for customer pricing, stock and financial information. Duffells looked to Magento as the platform that offered a superb product trajectory and chose Magium to deliver the project.

Complex B2B functionality

Duffells has a number of clients across the UK that each had differing price rules held in Merlin. The system needed to accept on account payments, with customers having set credit limits and credit card purchases. The system also has personalisation integrated into the system providing AI based merchandising and fast site search based on user segment and activity. With multiple data polling routines the site still needed to be quick and easy to use.

Our Solution

Magium provided an initial Discovery Phase which documented not only Duffells’ functional requirements but also the various data exchanges so the integration could be seamless. The site was then built by Magium’s development team which included project management, testing and release management into the live environment hosted by UKFast.

The system has full B2B functionality such as customer specific pricing (taken from Merlin), the ability to manage credit, Returns Management Authorisation, and the ability to manage store delivery.

Results

The site offers a stable and robust platform for online business growth. As the site has been built with Magento new functionality can be incorporated as required allowing flexibility and scalability.

The solution delivers an up a UX-driven journey to allow products to be found quickly and easily and with up to date stock levels and inventories. Cross selling and upselling are key components of the site boosting Average Order Values (AOV) and revenues as a whole.
